Not much real news on SXSW yet
Except that big boring list of artists that comes out and I never pay any attention to. However, 5 days (the 22nd of March, 2009 CE) after the Austin festival begins, on the last day, Dallas group Parade of Flesh is hosting SXSFLESH, which looks to be as appetizing as any SXSW lineup ever could be.
LINEUP IS:
Young Widows (Nice to see local acts playing with the most badass of the badass)
Thee Ohsees
Women
Abe Vigoda
Wavves
Sleepy Sun
Pterodactyl
Howl
My Disco
Vampire Hands
Fresh & Only's
I've been spending much of my week in Euless, TX listening to Abe Vigoda, Women, Wavves, and Pterodactyl, and this show looks to be amazingly literally fucking amazing. It's at the Lounge, all ages, which means that you'll be able to bump elbows with some youngsters and maybe see some new faces, something that's probably desperately needed by anyone who's reading this.
Apparently Akron/Family's playing again, which I know tickles the taint of certain friends of mine. But the new Ben Kweller is good, fuck you all, and I wanna see that, and Buck 65 and Sage Francis only help to hype my whiteboi hiphop love.
Also, SXSW Asia is hosting Japan Nite, which is actually two nights. There's a broad variety here, as with most locale shows, including a blues band called Grapevine, as well as the immaculate Dirty Old Men. Asakusa Jinta is playing, carrying on that weird tradition of nuts marching bands to play at the partayyyyyy wknd. Anyways, this is most likely your only chance of seeing these guys

Pervading
Last night, as it is in essence, I found myself the victim of what is now evident as the most brilliantly resilient temporary tattoo. I intend to use this as a metaphor for the individuals around me, those with immense personal contact with me. All around, a general mood of persistence exists within my loved ones, meaning a direct disregard for prior vision. It appears that experiential logic has been thrown out the window and that all things formerly unfeasible have been flipped on their fucking head, removed from the rotting slab that once was their resting place. A minor shift, mind you, but all the more genius when inspected, like digging the lice out of the pubic hair of some unfortunate sap who unknowingly bed the unclean in a solemn act of defiance. If illogical, I believe such an endurance is uniquely odd and miraculously beautiful, and is applaudable, yet somehow unlaudable, in the sense that prior conviction and restraint are respected by the wise for good reason.
Keep on truckin', though, and I will be back from Missouri on the 30th.
